# Knowing Students Received the Message

{% embed url="<https://vimeo.com/1122218745/46981df96d>" %}

Most users of Grade Nudge can find their past messages in their sent mail in the Gmail portion of their Google account. The University of Nebraska IT department has restricted access to this area and thus instructors cannot see past sent messages.

As a result, some faculty find it reassuring to receive an email when Grade Nudge messages are sent out. To do this:

1. Download your Canvas gradebook like
2. Modify the test student to include your username of your email address (i.e., everything before the @ sign)
3. Use the modified file as normal

Expanding on item 2, below is an example gradebook from Canvas.

The last student is the test student. In the columns "SIS User ID" and "SIS Login ID" put your username. In my case this is bosmith. The modified version can be seen below.

The modified cells are circled in black. Use the modified version of the gradebook as normal.
